Ancient Roman Holidays – Two for One

There are two Roman holidays being celebrated on this day, but where did they come from and what do they mean? The Prophets of God have been warning Israel for a very long time how they provoke God to anger by participating in such “holy days.”  Let’s take a look and see why:

Ferr-agosto is a Roman holiday celebrated in Italy on the “ides of August.” It coincides with the major Roman Catholic Religion feast of the “Assumption of the Virgin.” After a 2-week fast, it’s a time for Italians to go to the beach before summer ends.

Ferragosta comes from the Latin, Feriah Augusti (the festivals of the Emperor, Caesar Augustus, 63 BC – 14 AD) which was introduced back in 18 BC.

Augustus’ predecessor, Julius Caesar had been elected Pontifex Maximus in 63 BCE. Augustus inherited the role about the time of Christ. The Pontifex Maximus, or the Roman high priest, was assumed by the Roman Catholic Pontiff.

The Pontifex of the ancient Roman religion presided over a Pantheon of many gods and goddesses of various names and titles. The Virgin Mother Goddess was the cult of Cybele at that time, imported from Phrygia. She was known as the “Great Mother of the Gods” (Mater Deum Magna Idaea), “fallen down from heaven,” from about the 5th century BC (Before Christ). Before that she had various names including the Canaanite, Ashtaroth, the “Queen of Heaven,” and her consort Baal. At the time of Christ and the Apostles, she was known as “the great goddess Diana.” And then sometime in the 4th century when the Roman Caesar decided it would be to their benefit to call themselves “Christian,” they changed her name once again to Mary the Virgin Theotokos.

Today, the holiday combines both its ancient Roman and Catholic roots.

Theotokos – Mother of the Gods

August 15th is when Roman Catholic religion celebrates the Assumption of the Theotokos into Heaven – the day when they believe the Great Mother Goddess ascended to heaven “body and soul” after the end of her life on earth.

On November 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII, defined the Assumption of Mary to be a dogma of the faith. “We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma that the immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.” This proclamation made it a mandatory dogma. It certainly wasn’t “divinely revealed” by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel, as He commanded His people against such worship of any other gods.

The feast was celebrated under various names – Commemoration, Dormition, Passing, and Assumption – from at least the fifth or sixth century.

The death or Dormition of Mary is, of course, not recorded in the Scriptures. History tells us she went to England with her uncle, Joseph of Arimathea, founder of Christianity in Britain, died and was buried there.

Covert Operations – Roman Cover-Ups

The Roman Catholic Vatican and especially their Jesuit Order is expert in covert operations, deception and cover-ups. They’ve been trying to keep their pedophile priests under wraps for a long time while they fit the profile of the priests of the Greek and Roman goddess to a tee. They’ve also very thinly veiled their ancient pagan worship practices with so-called “Christian” names in order to deceive and seduce. At the time of Christ, the Roman Empire, being filled with corruption and greed, was on the brink of collapse. Much like the time of the Reformation many years later, they were threatened with collapse by the Bible readers.  They were losing their grip to Christianity, whose followers were willing to go to their deaths for their beliefs.

The solution for Rome, since they couldn’t exterminate them, was to adopt Hebrew “Christianity” as their new national religion. They called it Roman Catholic and required everyone to join under pain of death. Only the names had been changed. All their pagan gods took on the names of Christian characters i.e. Zeus became St. Peter.

Time to Wake Up! The Roman Religion is a Deception!

Christ came to wake Israel up to the fact that they were being deceived by their “wicked shepherds”.  He called them, “Wolves in sheep’s clothing” because they feed and clothe themselves of the sheep, but they don’t feed the sheep! He said, “I am the good shepherd…” They killed him!

After Moses had delivered them out of the bondage of Egypt, Joshua led them into the land of Canaan where:

“…the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. And they forsook the LORD, and served/worshiped Baal and Ashtaroth.” Judg 2:11-13

This is a scenario repeated in Scripture generation after generation. The people “round about them” were the Canaanites whose worship practices trace back from Babylon to Rome. They have been spread throughout the entire world. Since Canaan and Cush, whose son Nimrod founded Babylon, were brothers, they had very similar ways. They worship a god they considered to be the “King” and his wife the “Queen” of heaven. Against all the admonitions of the prophets, Israel forsook the God of their fathers.  They followed after the pagan gods of wood and stone. These are not gods! They have no breath! They have no power whatsoever!

Searching for The Lost Sheep of Israel

The Ten Tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel became the “Lost Sheep of the House of Israel”. They were taken captive into Assyria while their homeland was flooded with the people that were “round about them”.  Years later, the Kingdom of Judah was taken into Babylon from which they eventually returned. But Jerusalem had been flooded with foreigners as well. Israel never returned. They don’t know who they are and continue to follow in the ways of Rome.

The Roman Religion is the Counterfeit Religion

This has provoked God to anger throughout the ages! He has been long-suffering but He has put a time limit on this behavior. With the pope and his gang cooking up a “One World Religion,” it’s time for His people to wake up! This is the last call! It will swallowed you up and enslave you and your children if you won’t come out of it. It is a time of “Great Tribulation.” The Apostle said: “My beloved brethren, Flee from idolatry!” And the Angel says: “Come out of her, My people, don’t be partakers of her sins, that you receive not of her plagues…” Or don’t wonder why all these horrific things are coming upon you! “For her sins have reached into heaven and God has remembered her iniquities… and she shall be utterly burned with fire! For strong is the God who judges her.” Rev 18

Warning!

Roman feast days and worship practices may be obligatory to the Romans, but to God’s people they are a transgression. They turn your heart away from Him and cause you to go astray.  He has sent many, including His Son, to keep you in His way.

God has saved a Remnant

“God has not cast away His people which He foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says of Elijah? how he made intercession to God against Israel, saying, “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and thrown down Your altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life…

“He said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken Your Covenant, thrown down Your altars, and slain Your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”      1 Ki 19:10

…But what was the answer of God to him? “I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.” Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” Romans 11:2-5

Strive to be one of them! For apart from them, the LORD did not speak.
