Today, November 8, 2022, the full Moon passed through the earth’s shadow, giving the earth a beautiful light show in a total Lunar Eclipse and what is known as a ‘Blood Moon‘. The Moon turning to Blood is mentioned in Scripture, but what does it signify?
Great Signs from Heaven
When his disciples asked Jesus about the signs of the end, he said,
“Take heed that you are not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: therefore, don’t you go after them. But when you shall hear of wars and commotions, don’t be terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not yet. Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from Heaven.”
Jesus Christ – Gospel of Luke 21:8-11
He was quoting from the Prophet Joel,
“I will show wonders in the Heavens and in the earth… The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible/dreadful Day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said and in the Remnant whom the Lord shall call.”
Joel 2:30-32
“And on My servants and on My handmaidens in those days I will pour out My Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in Heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath… The Sun shall be turned into darkness, and the Moon into blood, before that great and notable/terrible Day of the LORD come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Acts of the Apostles 2:18-21
“And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the Sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the Moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth… And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the chief captains, the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great Day of His Wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?’”
The Book of Revelations 6:12-17
The Messenger of the Covenant
God’s promised Prophet, Elijah.
“Behold, I will send My Messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his Temple, even the Messenger of the Covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts… Remember ye the Law of Moses My servant… Behold, I will send you Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful/terrible Day of the LORD…”
Malachi 3:1, 4-4-6
“And Moses took the Book of the Covenant and read in the audience of the people: and they said, ‘All that the Lord has said, we will do, and be obedient’. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the Blood of the Covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words.”
Exodus 24:7-8
The Blood of the New Covenant
“But you are come unto Mount Sion/Zion, and unto the City of the Living God, the Heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and congregation of the firstborn/first-fruits, which are written in Heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just/righteous men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the New Covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel…
Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting Covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His Will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 12:22-24, 13:20-21
“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you (Moses), and will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My Words which he shall speak in My Name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.”
Deuteronomy 18:18-20
Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World.”
“I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the World.”
Gospel of John 9:4-5
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the Firmament of the Heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.”
Genesis 1:16-19
“Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the Day that the LORD binds up the breach of His people and heals the stroke of their wound.”
Isaiah 30:26-27
That Day is here! Don’t let it take you in unawareness. Pay attention and ‘call upon the Name of the LORD’ for deliverance! Seek to become one of the Remnant.
“And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small Remnant, we would be as Sodom, and like unto Gomorrah.”
Isaiah 1:8-9
